The PacNoyce Scholars Program provides scholarships and other support for STEM majors at Pacific who become teachers in high-needs school districts, such as Stockton. In exchange, PacNoyce Scholars agree to teach two years in a high-needs school district for each year of scholarship received.

You could be eligible for the Robert Noyce Teachers Scholarship worth up to $13,750 a year, for juniors and seniors or $20,000 for the final MA/teaching credential year. The amount of the scholarship depends on financial need.

Help close the STEM gap in San Joaquin County

The PacNoyce Scholars Program was established through a grant from the National Science Foundation to make scholarships available for Pacific STEM majors to earn teaching credentials and teach in San Joaquin County (or other high-needs areas), where there are not enough math and science teachers.

Program Requirements

  • Current Pacific student or incoming transfer student working on a BA or BS in a STEM discipline (see Eligible majors)
  • Must complete your BA or BS and Credential (with MA if you need the extra year)
  • Must teach for 2 years in a high-needs school district for every year of scholarship
  • Participate in the PacNoyce seminar
  • Engage in undergraduate research
  • Engage in education-related service learning activities

Need for STEM teachers

In order for the United States to remain competitive in the global economy, future workers must be well-versed in math, science and technology. However, California lacks an adequate supply of fully prepared teachers to fill its many STEM teaching positions in grades 7-12. The gap is especially serious in San Joaquin County. The goal of the PacNoyce Scholar Program is to fill that need with talented Pacific graduates who want to make a real difference in their community. 

PacNoyce teachers, many of whom are from the local region, will ultimately set in place a culture of achievement that will encourage more students to succeed in STEM courses in middle and high school. Each PacNoyce Scholar will benefit 150 students per year in his/her classroom.
